Scientific Name : Pseudechis porphyriacus
Common Name : Red-bellied black snake
Description : POISONOUS. A medium-sized snake, of up to 1.5m. Glossy black above, with a series of bright red scales along the lower flanks. This snake is poisonous and dangerous.
Habitat : Usually found close to streams, swamps and other wet places.
Distribution : Coastal Queensland, the Eastern half of New South Wales and most of Victoria. Only rarely seen in the park. Most likely in the vicinity of Billys Creek.
Family : Elapidae
