Scientific Name : Poa labillardieri
Common Name : Common tussock-grass
Height : 1300 mm
Description : This grass forms large dense Perennial tussocks, ,of numerous very slender leaves. Leaves are Scabrous, 800 mm long by 3.5 mm wide, flat or chanelled, at least half as high as the flowering stems. The Ligule is stiff but membraneous, Truncate. The Inflorescence is an open Panicle to 250 mm long. Individual flowers are very small, 3 to 5 to a spikelet.
Habitat : Common on stream-sides and alluvial flats and on open hillsides.
Distribution : Queensland to Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Common in the cooler south and east of Victoria. Very common in the Billys Creek section, dominating large clear areas of Blue Gum Hill. Occasional in the Fosters Gully section.
