Scientific Name : Pardalotus striatus
Common Name : Striated pardalote
Description : A tiny little bird, to 110mm, with a very short tail and a short stubby bill. The crown of the head is black, streaked with white. There is a white stripe above the eye, becoming yellow close to the bill and a fine black line through the eye, below which the face is finely streaked black and white. The throat is yellow, withe the rest of the underparts near to white. The back is grey-brown, becoming browner on the rump. The wings are black, with the edges of the wing feathers white showing as white stripes on the closed wing. There is a spot of colour near the shoulder of the wing, yellow on some subspecies and red on others. The short tail is black tipped with white.
Habitat : Forests and woodlands.
Distribution : Throughout Australia. Common throughout the Park.
