Scientific Name : Ocybadistes walkeri
Common Name : Yellow banded dart
Description : A very small butterfly, with a wingspan of only 22mm. The upper wings are brown, with orange markings. The underwings are paler, with pale orange patches. It often perches in an unusual pose, with the hind wings horizontal, but the fore wings vertical (as in the second illustration). The caterpillars feed on various species of grass.
Habitat : Grasslands.
Distribution : Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. In the Park, only recorded from grasslands along Billys Creek, where the butterflies were feeding on flowers of Lotus corniculatus.
Flying Season : October November December January February and March
Family : Hesperiidae
