Scientific Name : Ninox strenua
Common Name : Powerful owl
Description : Largest Australian owl, length 600 to 650 mm. Dark brown barred with white and pale brown, Eye orange-yellow. Voice a mournful, loud, slow woo-hoo, repeated after about 10 seconds.
Habitat : Mostly in mature wet schlerophyll forest.
Distribution : South-East Australia, from Portland in Victoria to Rockhampton in Queemsland. In the Park, often recorded in Foster's Gully where its favourite food the Greater Glider Petauroides volans is also found.
