Scientific Name : Meliphaga lewinii
Common Name : Lewin's honeyeater
Description : Dark olive-green above, with the head darker. Yellowish-white patch over the ear and yellowish gape to otherwise black bill. This honeyeater has a particular liking for fruit including such exotic species as strawberry guavas, persimmons and pomegranates. Voice a loud rolling staccato chatter.
Habitat : Rainforest and wet schlerophyll forest and adjacent areas.
Distribution : The East coast of Australia from Cairns to Melbourne. May be seen anywhere in the Park, but is most often in the Fosters Gully picnic area, where a tame individual has been seen over at least 10 years.
