Scientific Name : Junonia villida
Common Name : Meadow argus
Description : A medium-sized butterfly, wingspan 55mm. The upper wings are dull grey-brown, with light orange markings, which include a large blue eye surronded by orange on the hind wing. The under wings are cryptically marked in pale greys and browns. The caterpillars feed on a variety of plants including Plantains (Plantago species).
Habitat : Varied.
Distribution : Australia generally, including Tasmania. In the Park, only recorded for the first time in 2000, near the Braniff's Road entrance.
Flying Season : January February March April May August September October November December
Family : Nymphalidae
