Scientific Name : Falco peregrinus
Common Name : Peregrine falcon
Description : A medium size bird of prey, to 500mm. The head and cheeks are black. The bill is blue-black, with a yellow cere at its base. The back and wings are a dark blue-grey, while the underparts are cream with dark barring across the breast. The throat and front of the neck is white. The legs are bright yellow. The peregrine catches its prey (birds) in the air and in flight is the fastest of all birds.
Habitat : May be seen in any habitat, but particularly in the vicinity of cliffs and rock faces.
Distribution : Throughout Australia. Uncommon in the Park. Seen hunting over farmland from the Western boundary. Also seen in the vicinity of cliffs on the hills to the East of Billys Creek.
