Scientific Name : Dacelo novaeguineae
Common Name : Laughing kookaburra
Description : The largest of all kingfishers, to 450mm. The head is white, withe a brown stripe on the top and a brown patch through and behind the eye. The back and wings are brown, with light blue mottling on the shoulder of the wings. The tail is short, barred dark brown and chestnut.
Habitat : Open forests and woodlands.
Distribution : Throughout eastern Australia and the south-west of Western Australia. Found throughout Victoria. Common throughout the Park.
Family : Alcedinidae
