Scientific Name : Blechnum cartilagineum
Common Name : Gristle fern
Height : 0.4 to 1.5
Description : Fronds are Pinnate, with Pinnae with broadened bases, which are not greatly reduced in length towards the Rachis. Unlike many Blechnum species, the fertile fronds are similar to he barren fronds. Sori form two continuous narrow bands on either side of the midvein on the underside of each Pinna. Black shiny scales are found at the base of the Rachis.
Habitat : Often in extensive colonies in damp forests on hillsides or stream banks.
Distribution : Eastern Australia, from Queensland to Victoria and Tasmania, In Victoria, mainly in the South-East. In the Park it is quite common at the Southern end of Fosters Gully, but uncommon elsewhere.
