Scientific Name : Argynnina cyrila
Common Name : Cyril's brown
Description : One of the smaller browns, wingspan 50mm. Wings are dark brown, with patches of two shades of orange. There are three small black spots with white centres near the tip of the forewings and two larger similar spots at the rear of the hindwings. Caterpillars feed on native grass species such as Poa sieberiana.
Habitat : Open eucalyptus forest, with native grasses.
Distribution : Southern Queensland to Victoria. Only recently found in the park, although several were seen on the Stringybark Walk in September.
Flying Season : September October November December
Family : Nymphalidae
