Scientific Name : Anthochaera carunculata
Common Name : Red wattlebird
Description : The red wattlebird is one of the largest of the honeyeaters, to 370mm. It has a grey-brown plumage, streaked with white. There is a white triangular patch on the face at the base of which is a tear-drop shaped small red wattle. There is a large pale yellow patch on the belly. The long tail, wedge-shaped when spread, is grey-brown, with the tail feathers tipped with white.
Habitat : Forests, woodland and gardens.
Distribution : Across southern Australia from south-east Queensland to southern Western Australia, but missing from Tasmania. Present all over Victoria. Found throughout the Park, but most commonly along the Billys Creek flats.
