Scientific Name : Alisterus scapularis
Common Name : King parrot
Description : A medium to large parrot, to 450mm. The male has a bright red head and breast and green wings, back and tail. The rump is blue and there is a light green stripe across the wing. The female has a green head and upper breast, with red on the lower breast and abdomen.
Habitat : Forested areas.
Distribution : East coast of Australia, from Queensland to Victoria. In Victoria it is confined to the East and South of the state. Uncommon in the Park, but recently seen in the Fosters Gully section, including feeding in the Kerry Road Picnic Area.
